From Lab to ApplicationPhysics first. Applications in view.

ALO was founded in 2026. We don’t have products yet — what we have is a habit of choosing problems where a result in the lab could one day become a technology, and of designing with silicon-foundry compatibility in mind from day one.

How We WorkPrinciples

Designed with application in mind

We are at the start. These are the principles that will guide how our results move toward real-world use.

Manufacturability from Day One

We favour materials, dielectrics and transfer processes that are compatible with standard silicon fabrication, so that promising results are not stranded in the lab.

A Track Record to Build On

26 peer-reviewed journal papers since 2018, including work at A*STAR, Singapore, on CMOS-compatible dielectrics for 2D semiconductors and electrical control of valley excitons.

Pathways at IIT Kharagpur

When results are ready, we intend to use the institute's established routes — including STEP-IIT Kharagpur and the institute's IP and technology-transfer support.

Where our research could lead

None of these are products yet. They are the application areas that guide which fundamental questions we pursue — each card shows where we are today and what comes next.

BENCHTOP PROTOTYPE

WaveScale: Integrated 2D Optoelectronic Photodetector Array

High-responsivity, broadband infrared sensing for optical interconnects and machine vision.

Where we are today: Monolithic integration of monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) directly onto silicon photonic waveguides, achieving sub-picosecond response times with zero dark-current leakage.
